Icebowl 2001

I didn't go to Icebowl, so I don't know what happened. Hard to write a commentary when you don't know anything about the event. Pictures here are courtesy of Timothy Yeung of 2nd year and I believe Shannon Salvador, also of 2nd year. Maybe others too, but those are the only two who I know touched the camera. As for the question, where were the archivists, I was in Edmonton. I thought about going down to take pictures. Then I realized that a six hour all around trip to Cowtown (Dr. Lewanczuk's characterization) and back wasn't going to happen the weekend before the midterm. Especially not if I went alone (and the other archivists weren't going either) and so no one went.

What I do know about Icebowl is that: it was a lot of fun, the Saskatchewan women are bruisers who seem to be grooming themselves for professional play (or at least enforcer duty - 200 lbs?!?!?!), the men's non competitive team do subscribe to non competitiveness, the men's competitive do subscribe to being competitive, and the women's competitive embrace competitiveness fully and reached the final. Yay, good try guys and good job girls. I think a woman's non competitive was there too, and Fatima ended up getting funny looks for wearing Carmen's Creampuff jersey.
